About Me

Welcome to Nature Artistry . I'm Karin Spijker , an artist and illustrator. My work stems from a fascination with nature and the connection between people, animals, and their environment. With a realistic and refined style, I capture tranquility, harmony, and a touch of poetry.

Inspiration and motivation

Nature is my greatest teacher. Landscapes, animals, flowers, and patterns inspire me time and again. For me, drawing and painting are not only a way to capture beauty but also to find balance. My art is a counterbalance to the hustle and bustle of everyday life and aims to evoke a sense of peace, light, and inspiration.

Materials and techniques

I work both analog and digitally. I alternate between pencil, ink, watercolor, and oil paint with digital sketches and montages. I often combine both worlds: a digital color study becomes the basis for a painting, or a plein-air sketch evolves into a fully developed canvas in the studio. This creates a layered and contemporary work that combines technique and feeling.

For whom I create

My art appeals to art and nature lovers who appreciate authenticity and craftsmanship. People who appreciate a harmonious interior and enjoy surrounding themselves with work that radiates peace, connection, and beauty. My paintings and illustrations add a calm and inspiring atmosphere to their living spaces—a moment of coming home.

Highlights

Key milestones in my career include graduating from the Master's in Scientific Illustration program in Maastricht and collaborating with internationally renowned artists. Furthermore, plein-air painting in southern Spain deepened my work and further fueled my love of the landscape.

Symbols and connection

In many of my works, you'll find subtle details—a bird, a figure in the landscape, a dog in the background. These small elements represent freedom, connection, and the joy of simple moments. I connect with my audience through that same appreciation for beauty and nature. My art is an invitation to pause, breathe, and experience the harmony that surrounds us.
